Time has a way of showing us what matters in life

Hi everyone,

In this special insight to my life, I will share the things that I have learnt during lockdown –

1. Aurora is basically a mini me

After fighting with myself daily. I have decided that I am a piece of work. In every aspect. God help the man that ends up with me. If my mood swings are anything like hers then whoever I’m in a relationship with has their work cut out for them, they better be strong - willed! Anyway, mini-me is hilarious. She is actually so cute when she wants to be! Comes out with the funniest phrases, therefore I am, by proxy, freakin’ hilarious!

You’re welcome kids!

2. A tidy home really does mean a tidy mind.

I began to notice that the messier my flat was, or the more laundry that needed doing the more down I was getting. It was an easy fix, plus Rory loves cleaning – just not her own room! Plus, how good do cleaning products smell?! That’s a sure-fire way to cheer anyone up! Maybe I should just use polish as an air freshener, used to work on my mother whenever I told her I had cleaned before she came home from work, maybe subconsciously that would make me think my flat was clean! Although now I have said that I am fairly sure it won’t work.

3. Self- care over everything else.

I literally cannot even explain how much I agree with this. It is so, so important to take care of yourself. As a person I am always putting everyone else first, worrying about how they feel and more often than not neglecting myself and my feelings. I am not saying it’s a bad thing, I actually love that about myself (one of the few traits I like!) But since I have been concentrating on me and what makes me happy; I have lost weight, I am healthier, I have better skin, I have more energy. I am more positive, and I have some amazing people around me, so thank you, to those of you who have really gone through it with me this lockdown, it’s been a rollercoaster for sure!

It is all about balance and right now, I am happier than I have ever been, granted I still have off days, but I mean if you don’t, please share your secret! I am all ears!

4. I have the best friends.

From those of you whom I speak to every single day, to those of you that I speak to every once in a while. You are all amazing. I am so grateful for everything you all do for me, checking up on how I am doing, checking up on how Aurora is, coming to see me for a distant drink or a socially distant walk. I cannot thank you enough. I know I may go on about how shocking the whole lockdown experience has been for me but if it wasn’t for all of you, I literally would have cried every single day and be shoulder deep in chocolate and crisps! SO, THANK YOU!

We love you all, more than I can put into words!

5. I do not get hangovers – the usual type!

Those of you that know me, know I like a drink, although not wine anymore, which trust me is a shock to us all! Including Aurora who still adds it to her shopping list on every single shop. So, thanks kid! However, despite my alcohol intake and no matter how much I drink I wake up the next morning totally fine just in dire need of water! I mean I had one where I thought I was going to die but turned out that was just labour! I have however realised that I get carb headaches! Hahahaha, hilarious. I noticed this because I have been on keto for a while now and although I am still losing weight, I wanted to see if I could kickstart the ketosis by making my body come out of it by eating carbs again for two days then going back on keto and losing the weight that you do in the first couple of weeks. Seriously, I thought I was a genius, until the day after I had pasta, my head was banging, all day. Like no amounts of paracetamol and ibuprofen could shake it, I literally felt physically sick. Obviously couldn’t nap because Rory was on one that day. Honestly, it was crazy, but kind of hilarious!

6. I actually might pull off this teaching thing

I have been teaching Aurora the alphabet during lockdown, she knows the alphabet song and now we are going through individual letters, and she has the letter ‘a’ down now and we are going through the letter ‘b’ at the moment. We are also learning the days of the week with a ‘super fun’ song. It is the most annoying song in the world. But it is amazing how much kids pick up through songs. Aurora has the nursery rhymes down; she really is a clever little monkey.

Thanks for reading what I learnt during lockdown.

Stay safe everyone!

Many thanks, sincerely
